چکیده

Recently, the decision feedback channel estimation based on the minimum mean square error criterion (DF-MMSE-CE) using a fixed DF filter coefficient has been proposed to improve the channel estimation accuracy for DS-CDMA with frequency-domain equalization (FDE). In this paper, we propose adaptive DF (ADF)-MMSE-CE, in which the DF filter coefficient is adapted to changing channel conditions based on a recursive least square (RLS) algorithm. Furthermore, the channel estimate is phase corrected upon the reception of the periodically inserted pilot chip blocks. The average BER performance of DS-CDMA with MMSE-FDE using ADF-MMSE-CE is evaluated by computer simulation in a frequencyselective Rayleigh fading channel and the simulation results show that our proposed scheme is very robust against fast fading. key words: DS-CDMA, frequency-domain equalization, adaptive decision feedback, channel estimation

Adaptive Decision Feedback Channel Estimation with Periodically Phase Correction for DS-CDMA Signal Transmission with Coherent Frequency-domain Equalization

DS-CDMA can achieve good bit error rate (BER) performance in a severe frequency-selective fading channel by using frequency-domain equalization (FDE) based on MMSE criterion instead of rake combining. FDE requires accurate channel estimation (CE). Recently, a decision feedback (DF)MMSE-CE using a fixed DF filter coefficient has been proposed. The DF filter coefficient is an important design par...

BER Performance of DS-CDMA with Frequency-domain Equalization using Pilot-assisted Channel Estimation

Abstract In direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA), frequency-domain equalization (FDE) based on minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion can be applied to exploit the channel frequency-selectivity and therefore much improved bit error rate (BER) performance than using the conventional rake combining. MMSE-FDE requires accurate frequency-domain channel estimation. In this pap...

2-Step Maximum Likelihood Channel Estimation for Multicode DS-CDMA with Frequency-Domain Equalization

Frequency-domain equalization (FDE) based on the minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion can provide better downlink bit error rate (BER) performance of direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) than the conventional rake combining in a frequencyselective fading channel. FDE requires accurate channel estimation. In this paper, we propose a new 2-step maximum likelihood channel ...

A Closed-form BER Expression for Differentially Modulated DS-CDMA Signals with Frequency-domain Differential Detection and Equalization

Abstract Recently, we have proposed frequency-domain differential detection and equalization (FDDDE) for the reception of differentially encoded DS-CDMA signals in a timeand frequency-selective fading channel. It was shown by computer simulation that FDDDE using an IIR filter with decision feedback can provide better BER performance than coherent frequency-domain equalization (FDE) with pilot-a...

RLS Channel Estimation with Adaptive Forgetting Factor for DS-CDMA Frequency-Domain Equalization

Frequency-domain equalization (FDE) based on the minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion can increase the downlink bit error rate (BER) performance of DS-CDMA beyond that possible with conventional rake combining in a frequency-selective fading channel. FDE requires accurate channel estimation. Recently, we proposed a pilot-assisted channel estimation (CE) based on the MMSE criterion. Using ...
